Colorado Disability Funding Authority

Grant programs

Two ways we fund the work

One program the law requires. One the Board funds when resources allow.

Required by law

Disability Benefits Assistance

Competitive grants to organizations that help Coloradans obtain the public benefits they qualify for — SSI, SSDI, Medicaid, and others — with statewide access wherever practical.

  • Open to nonprofits, Independent Living Centers, county human and social services, and state and local agencies
  • Quarterly expenditure reporting required by statute
  • Success measured by people served and benefits obtained
Funded when available

New & Innovative Projects

Grants for projects that improve independence and quality of life, and that test ideas worth repeating elsewhere in Colorado.

  • Projects should be able to become financially sustainable
  • Disability leadership and lived experience in governance are encouraged
  • Proposals accepted year-round; awards made at regular Board meetings
